Having an office in Venice Beach, a tourist destination, has presented the opportunity to work on projects catered to vacationers. Our first hospitality project was a small vacation rental complex. Located just off the sand at one of the worlds most popular beaches, the project boasts panoramic views of the ocean, the world famous Venice Board Walk, and the off shore island of Catalina.
Since this first project, a similar project was constructed in Santa Monica. Currently there many projects on the drawing board, and one that is about to begin construction. A remodel to the historic Cadillac Hotel in Venice beach will begin this summer. Also, Newman Building Designs has teamed up with other architects and engineers for the development of an eco-resort, "Kwanari" on the island of the Dominica in the Caribbean. Some other notable resort projects are described below

Resort in Nicaragua:
The basis of the design was to bring the feel of the ocean
to shore. Due to the sites location of
prominence, a structure of substance is needed.
Finally, the structure should inspire all of those who look at it.
Site:
This design is meant to create conversation
in regards to the layout of the resort.
The site plan shows the easiest place to build for both the buildings
and the driveway that leads to them. The
intent is that as you exit your car in front of the lobby, you have views of
the ocean in the distance, and a breathtaking water fall in the foreground. The shapes of the roofs are shown as
circles. This is representative of the
spiral shell that is shown in my sketch at the top of this page.
Finally, the snail shaped cottages are suggestions of how there could be
private buildings set into the trees below for those who are looking for
something a bit more private.
First Floor Plan:
This drawing is a preliminary layout of a possible
structure. As people enter the lobby, they are greeted at the reception area. If the
guests are visiting only to dine, they would be shown to the bar
or the restaurant at the far end of the pool.
The pool is meant to be multileveled with a waterfall to greet people as
they arrive. Guests who are checking in
may either be shown to the elevator or stairs at the lobby. If they wish to experience the majesty of the
building, they might want to go through the lounge up the formal
staircase. If the guest?s room is on the
first level, they would be shown their room by passing through the lounge.
Upper Level Floor Plans:
The upper levels have a
VIP suites. These suites have been oriented
to enjoy the best views and be the most luxurious. .
